HFA Hamilton's Only Tiered Association With New Agreement

Updated Monday April 4, 2016 by Hamilton Football Association.

Another step has been taken in unification of football in the great city of Hamilton.

The HFA and Steel City Steelers have come to an agreement which has led to HFA becoming the Hamilton Representative in the OMFL football league.  Southern Ontario’s Tier 2 league.

The HFA will now be Hamilton’s only program offering tiered football  both in spring and fall providing opportunities for football ages 7-19.

The HFA would like to thank the Steelers Board of Directors for the many years of contribution to Hamilton Football.  The tough and fiery brand of Steel Town football contributed to the toughness and talent throughout Steelers Alumni playing in Hamilton High School football and the CIS.

Our spring youth program (ages 7-12) will continue to operate business as usual.

We look forward to welcoming all the former Steel City Steeler families and coaches into the HFA for a fun spring and competitive fall experience.

Our varsity division (ages 13-17) (bantam, JV) will now work towards building the program this spring and HFA will expand into the Ontario Minor Football League this season based on our registration numbers at those ages.   In 2017 season we look to expand our 17-19 age division with two tiers.

The Hamilton Football Association strives to provide a safe and positive football experience to help lead and shape minor football in our city.

We welcome all levels and playing experience of football players into our association to experience football for the first time, continue to develop or play at elite levels.

Our entire association is practicing and playing games on turf playing surfaces as we have partnered with some local High Schools. The HFA has provided our players and coaches with onsite access to over $50,000 of field equipment to help teach proper skills and limit contact for our players in practise.

The HFA is Football Canada’s first “Safe Contact” certified program. All coaches are required to have received or are in the process of getting certified in the Safe Contact program.

For the new players ages 7-12 and fall football ages 7-14 or those not yet registered please visit www.jrticats.com for spring football and/or fall football
