1. BASIC INFORMATION:
All AAA and AA teams will be playing in the Ontario Football League (OFL). This is the old COMFL. The teams currently participating in the OFL are:
Clarington, Niagara, Vaughn, Brantford, Twin Cities(Kitchener); Burlington, Guelph, Port Dover, Toronto and the HFA. Cambridge has also decided to move from the OVFL Fall to the OFL. There could be more teams added before the start of the season. We expect to see all centres field AAA teams and most fielding AA teams. MD has yet to be determined but from talks at this point, we expect there to be at least one team at each age group for most centres. If the numbers do not allow that, we have partnered with Burlington for our MD teams to play in their house league. If the HFA numbers are sufficient, we will have our MD teams play in our own internal house league.
2. Evaluation Process:
All players must participate in the evaluation/combine session and the team tryouts. Those players that cannot make the combine and tryouts, will need to contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternate arrangements will be made for their evaluations.
The combine/evaluation session, will be headed by each divisions AAA coaching staff. All AA and MD coaching staffs will assist in the drills and help assess the players.
Each division, ATOM, PEEWEE, BANTAM tryout will be combined tryouts of all the players. The tryouts will be facilitated by the AAA coaching staff with the AA, and MD staffs assisting.
Once the tryouts/evaluations are complete the teams will be allocated.
3. Team Selection:
In keeping in line with the HFA's vision of having players play at the appropriate level of competition, the selection process will work as follows: The AAA, AA and MD Head Coaches at each will meet to select the teams. The AAA team will select first and fill a roster of 28-34 players (actual numbers to be finalized). Once complete, the AA coaches will then select from the remaining players, their roster of between 25-30 players). All remaining players will be assigned to the MD division and will be divided equally between the EAST and the WEST (if number allow). Coaches at each level should work together to ensure that team selections will result in the best competitive teams for the HFA as well as provide the appropriate level for the player.
Siblings: In cases where siblings are of the same age group, consideration will be made to allow all siblings to play on the same team. All cases will be assessed on an individual basis.
Late Registrations: In the event that players sign up after the tryouts, those players will be assigned to the AAA team until evaluated. If released, the player will then be assessed (if necessary) by the AA coach. If the player is released to the MD division, he will be assigned to a team.
Games will be played on Saturday or Sunday starting late August/early September and finishing in early November
Game Venue(s): All our home games will be located in the city at various Hamilton High School Turf fields, Tim Horton's Field(New Ticat Stadium) and/or Mohawk Sports Complex Away games will require short travel.
As Hamilton’s premier minor association with over 80 year of combined service to our city we have created a strong partnership with the CFL and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This fall all teams will be branded as Jr Ti-cats and helmet decals.
Currently as it stands minor football in our province is in a state of reorganization. It appears to be headed based on player/association experience level for fall football. Division’s set up as AAA/ AA/ House league. Tykes are ages 6-8 all together in one division
Short local travel will be required based on registration numbers for the house league division as well(potential for a cross over with Burlington house league or joint house league with other associations) . Game days could change either Saturday’s or Sunday based on opponents field availability.
Start and/or game dates may be extended/modified based on weather field conditions or based on enrollment per division
